چکیده

Results 10998 patients were included contributing 43524 person-years of follow-up (PYFU). The majority of followup (80%) was with a viral load ≤500, 12% between 50110000 and 8% >10000. 95%, 72% and 64% of the followup in each strata respectively was in patients who had started cART. 379 AIDS events (14 deaths) occurred. There was a lower incidence of AIDS events in patients with a viral load ≤500 (IR 0.69 per 100 PYFU, 95%CI 0.60-0.78) compared to a viral load >10000 (IR 2.38 per 100 PYFU, 95%CI 1.87-2.89). 532 non-AIDS events (131 deaths) occurred. Patients with a viral load ≤500 had an incidence of non-AIDS events of 1.50 per 100 PYFU (95%CI 1.36-1.64), and 1.43 per 100 PYFU (95%CI 0.961.89) when viral load >10000. As shown in Figure 1, after adjustment, patients with a viral load >10000 had a 3 times higher incidence of AIDS events than those

Immuno-Virological Discordance and the Risk of Non-AIDS and AIDS Events in a Large Observational Cohort of HIV-Patients in Europe

BACKGROUND The impact of immunosuppression despite virological suppression (immuno-virological discordance, ID) on the risk of developing fatal and non-fatal AIDS/non-AIDS events is unclear and remains to be elucidated. METHODS Patients in EuroSIDA starting at least 1 new antiretroviral drug with CD4<350 cells/µl and viral load (VL)>500 copies/mL were followed-up from the first day of VL< = 5...

Fatal and nonfatal AIDS and non-AIDS events in HIV-1-positive individuals with high CD4 cell counts according to viral load strata.

BACKGROUND This study compared the incidence of fatal and nonfatal AIDS and non-AIDS events in HIV-positive individuals with a CD4 cell count more than 350  cells/μl among viral load strata: low (<500  copies/ml), intermediate (500-9999.9  copies/ml) and high (≥ 10000  copies/ml). METHODS Individuals contributed person-years at risk if their most recent CD4 cell count was more than 350  cells...

For HIVinfected patients with CD4 counts >350 cells/mm who do not meet any of these criteria, the recommendation is to consider treatment on an indi...

Sero-prevelance of Cytomegalovirus and Toxoplasma Infections among Newly Diagnosed HIV Patients in Iran; Assessing the Correlation with CD4+ Cell Counts

Background and Objective: Opportunistic infections are the leading cause of death among patients subjected to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). The aim of this study was to compare the seroprevalence of Cytomegalovirus (CMV)  and toxoplasmosis infection in newly diagnosed HIV infected patients with healthy controls and it’s correlat...

Prevalence of Different Types of Cancer in HIV+ Patients

Background and purpose: Introduction of antiretroviral therapy has led to decline in AIDS-associated cancers. In recent years, the rate of non-AIDS associated cancers has increased. Current prevalence of AIDS-associated cancers in Iran is unknown, so we aimed to investigate the prevalence of different cancers among HIV-infected patients in Iran. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional surv...
